What the client wanted
We are often tasked with helping to maximise the space of an existing house to accommodate a growing family, and this client asked us to do exactly that. They needed an extra bedroom, but the real design challenge was in how to reconfigure the ground floor to provide efficient and comfortable open-plan living.
Our creative solution
Our solution was elegant and simple. A two-storey side extension meant we were able to transform the box bedroom into a luxurious master bedroom (en-suite included, of course). The ground floor was converted from a multi-room arrangement into one, sleek, free-flowing space. By stripping out most of the walls and adding a single-storey rear extension, we created a vibrant living space awash with natural light provided by the stunning skylights and bifold doors.
Our favourite features
The very best solutions for family living are all about flexible space, and we were really proud of this home’s downstairs living space. By simply installing low profile bifold doors halfway down the room, we were able to create a versatile space that could be repurposed with ease. When closed, the doors created a quiet adult escape, and when open, the large, light-flooded room became ideal for kids’ play and leisure.
